The Fragrant Bath - Product FAQs
A Note About the Soap Wars:
There is this quiet little war brewing between those who make soap from scratch (hot or cold processed soaps) and those who make soaps via a pre-made base (Melt and Pour) as being Handcrafted, Handmade, Homemade, etc. Why the war? Beats me. Personally, there's enough fighting in the world and we don't need another stupid thing to fight about. As far as I'm concerned, the Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild defines ALL of these methods as soapmaking. I and others who make M&P products work very hard to perfect our craft just as my hot and cold-processed brothers and sisters do and I will define my soapmaking craft as handmade AND/OR handcrafted as I see fit. So please, no emails about how you think I am misrepresenting my products. I have the Guild on my side, thank you.
'Nuff said.
And Now....About My Soaps:
My layered and colored designer soaps are made from a high-quality, great feeling (I should know because my family and I use them all the time) Melt and Pour (MP) glycerin soap bases. I use quality FDA approved colorants and fragrance oils to create each elegant soap.
I also sell specialty gourmet soaps using wonderful quality botanicals and ingredients. These are SLS free and done in batches by me using all kinds of flowers, herbs, clays, etc.
All the soaps and bath products I make have the ingredients listed on the packaging for your edification.
A Few Tips on Soap Storage:
- Glycerin soaps have a very high glycerin content so if you are not using them right away they should be tightly wrapped and stored in a dry place away from moisture.
- "Help! My soap looks weird!" If your soap has a crystal-like or frosted surface, don't panic. That's the glycerin in the soap. This soap bloom-- or for a much nicer term "glycerin dew"-- is what forms when the humidity in the room is high. Washing with the soap will get rid of the surface dew.
Another problem I have customers contact me with is that their lovely pure white soap has turned a beige or brown. Again, a normal reaction if your fragrance of choice has vanilla, coconut or any number of spices in it, then that is the reason for the color change. I've even had some customers say that it looks like a baked cookie. How cool is that?
- To help your soap last longer, get a soap dish that has drainage holes. A soap that is sitting in a puddle will melt away faster.
- As with every bath and body product you use, take the proper precautions. In the case of soaps, take care as they can make the tub slippery. Keep soap out of eyes. If soap gets into your eyes, rinse immediately with clear clean water. Soap is not edible, although some of the designs may look or smell good enough to eat, they are not. Any allergic reactions stop using immediately.
The Fragrant Bath Perfumes
The perfumes are made from quality fragrance oils blended with a special perfume base formula designed to be used in our cute little roller bottles.
I also have perfume oils in original fragrance blends using quality fragrance oils, essential oils and pure jojoba or coconut oil. These are also sold in our roller bottles although I do sell them in sweet triangle glass screw top bottles if you wish.
I use both fragrance oils (FO) and essential oils (EO) in the perfumes depending on your fragrance choice. Please read my fragrance pages for more information.
Again, any allergic reaction, stop using immediately.
